Every so often, Swansea’s local paper
inadvertently reminds its readership that it shares the same owners (and
egalitarian values) as the Daily Mail.
Today’s example is an editorial lament that
private schools have all but disappeared in the city. Describing the problem as
a shrinking market, the paper nonetheless comments robustly how “there are
still parents who prefer to pay for a child’s education.”
Whether local families who cannot even
afford to pay for books are meant to empathise with this viewpoint is unclear.
Update: thanks to Ceillog for spell-checking.

I wonder what would be the preference of the couple who appear on the Bean on Toast front page today.
