Politics is an unforgiving business, as quite a few could testify. One day you’re in and the next it’s as if the earth has swallowed you up. The press no longer eagerly seek your comments, the freebie invitations stop overnight and even your own colleagues begin to airbrush you out of the collective consciousness.
For example, Plaid AM Bethan Jenkins does not even mention the loss of her former Assembly members Dai Lloyd, Helen Mary Jones and Nerys Evans in a post-election assessment blog entry entitled Aftermath.
Now what could possibly be the reason for such an omission?

Well we all know why don't we .Such a shame to loose such talent Plaid can ill afford to lose these people.
Nerys is the brightest young talent they have I am sure she will be back in one guise or another. Dr Dai is a cornerstone and a wise head Helen Mary, one of the best politicians in Wales. may be Plaid should ensure they have their talent at the top of their lists next time.
Plaid Cymru is very divided. Indeed, "split from top to bottom would not be an overstatement." Some favour independence - others don't. Some are left-wing and even republican - others are delighted to receive awards and honours from the Queen. Some are Welsh-speakers - others are not. On top of these divisions come personality clashes. A don't see Plaid coming out of the slough of despond for five years or more.

Nerys Evans and Helen Mary Jones contested constituency seats.
