Those were the days

Not too long ago – when the controlling political colours were a different hue at Calamity Hall – someone on the local paper would have loudly & pointedly asked the basic question as to why on earth is it necessary for Swansea Council to a convene a special cabinet meeting just to rubber-stamp details of the bridge changes we mentioned a few days ago, plus some city centre works – and why all the very short discussions have to happen behind closed doors.

You seem to have an awful lot of things decided in Swansea behind closed doors. We as Executive members in Wrecsam regularly challenge officers as to the necessity of hearing things behind closed doors.

The controlling Lib Dems made a few noises about openness and transparency when they first bought their way into office a few years back. These days all such pretence has been dropped. There are more "task groups" and "working parties" in being than ever from which the public and press are excluded. The local paper doesn't even raise an eyebrow but simply churns out the PR shit on behalf of the council without question.
