Spinning Social Services

The good news peddled by the Council’s spin-corps about “improving Social Services” would appear to be just a little at odds with other news in today’s local press.

Apparently, the cost of bed-blocking - delays in transferring patients from hospital to council commissioned residential care – is around the £1 million mark with a total of 43 cases being “social care-related”.

For whatever reason, this worrying decline is service did not merit a mention in the ‘finalised’ progress report that was eventually provided to the Scrutiny Committee.
