Tensions continue to build within the Liberal Alliance over a likely loss of office and influence.
We’ve been hearing of particularly animated exchange at a weekend sporting event at which a soon to be out-going scrutiny chair was lambasting the leadership for allowing Rene Kinzett and his new found allies to carve up the coalition.
The arch response from one loyalist, i.e. someone whose allowances are safe for the moment, was that none of the scrutiny chairs had done a particularly good job of looking after the cabinet’s back anyway and they should blame themselves.
Given this kind of attitude, it’s no wonder we hear talk that some malcontents have already made their intentions plain to be absent at committee meetings from now on.
Update: Despite the weekend rumour it turns out that a foursome (Rob Speht, Peter Black, June Evans and June Stanton) all defied the Lib Dem leadership and had to be dragged kicking and screaming from their scrutiny sinecures today.
...and bye bye Brian
